Technology grows more and more everyday. Not just stuff like new phones or TV's, new technology comes out for the kitchen to. The kitchen is getting more digital and remote everyday. One thing that I think is a great invention is the GE Brillion app. The GE Brillion is a app that is designed to remotely access your oven and change the temperature, turn off the oven, or even set a timer. The app works with several GE ovens. I think this is great because have you ever been in another room when the oven timer went off and you couldn't here it. Well with this app it will tell you when the timer has gone off and to make sure your food doesn't burn you can turn the oven off remotely. Its also good for safety because it will tell you if you didn't turn your oven off, so you don't have to worry about fires starting from you forgetting to turn off the oven.

When I was little I was still as interested in cooking as I am now. But there was some people that didn't really like that I was in to cooking. My Uncle once told me that it was the woman's job to cook in a family and that I didn't need to know how. I knew that this was an awful thing to say from the beginning but I still thought of it when ever I wanted to cook. For a little while I didn't cook and that made me sad because I was giving up something that I love because some one put me down. Once I realized this was the problem I said to myself "I don't care what other people think about me, and I will do what feels right!"  I still think of that every time someone says something to me that puts me down. I think anyone should give up what they love.

A professional chief is the career that matches this blog. Chefs are all about making up recipes and cooking them to the best of their ability. This blog is about easy recipes to get you cooking. My chief idols are people like Ina Garten who worked their way up in the professional cook world. I felt like I couldn't cook well because I didn't have that much training but after hearing how the professional chef Garten didn't get any training at and she was self taught, I thought I could at least try and cook a good meal. After making my meal and seeing how it turned out good, I was hooked. But I have to give some of the credit to Garten for making me believe in myself. When I get to college I want to get a full culinary degree and be as good as Garten.

One part of being able to cook is being able to use the equipment in the kitchen. Like for example the oven or blender. Whenever I use the blender I always make a mess. Once when I was little I wanted to make a milkshake like I saw my sister do the day before. I only thought you need milk and ice so I filled the blender all the way up with milk and ice. Since I was small I couldn't reach the top part of the blender to hold it down and make sure none of the liquids inside got out. I pressed the automatic button and half of the milk came flying out of the blender! And since I pressed the automatic button the blender kept going. Milk was flying every where and it was awful! Eventually my mom rushed into the kitchen and turned off the blender. There was milk everywhere! On the ceiling, over all the counters, and all over me!

This week I wanted to make my mother breakfast for Mothers Day. I looked online for a easy recipe for breakfast meals. I found an recipe for a acai bowl. I went to the store and found all the fruits that I needed to make the recipe accept the most important thing... Acai berries. So I decide to bend the recipe and change the acai ice cream to strawberry ice cream. I put all the other fruit on top and it looked pretty good! When I gave it to my mother is instantly thought it was a acai bowl and took a bite. She was so surprised to find out that it was strawberry ice cream (her favorite). She ended up eating the whole thing and she liked it even more then acai bowls. This shows that even if you cant get exactly what you need you can always improvise!

^This is what an acai bowl looks like.

One thing that makes my life ten times easier is cook books or recipes online. I am so thankful for the people who write recipes! Imagine a world where we had to remember each recipe or when ever we first made that recipe we had to write it down or we couldn't make it again. What if you wanted to make something new but you have already asked all your friends and family about their recipes. What would you do? You would probably have to go up to random strangers and ask about their recipes. I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't do that in a million years! Thankfully their are great chiefs around the world that write recipes and share them with us. Especially chiefs that post recipes online! We don't even have to pay for their cook book, we just take the recipes offline. We all owe these people a thank you!

Cooking isn't always the easiest thing to do. Some recipes need exact ingredients and some can be flexible. But the challenge is determining which is which. One time I had to make a cake but i didn't have all the flour and yeast I was supposed to have, but since I waited until the last moment to make it I had no choice. I made the mix and put it in the oven to cook. I pulled it out of the oven after about 45 minutes and the cake hadn't risen almost at all! It wasn't fluffy on the inside and it didn't taste good at all. So from now on I always follow baking recipes and I will only bend recipes I'm sure will still taste right. So if your going to bend recipes I suggest that you have personal experiences with that recipe or the ingredients that make it.

Ina Garten is an American author, Emmy Award winning host of the Food Network program Barefoot Contessa. She is most known for making recipes with lots of fresh ingredients and for her time saving tips. Whats really amazing is that Ina never had any training! She taught herself culinary techniques with the help of cookbooks. She started off her career by opening a store in Westhampton Beach, New York. Her shop specialized in delicacies such as lobster Cobb saladcaviar, imported cheeses, and locally grown produce. After 2 decades of running her shop she left management to 2 people and began to write cookbooks. Her first cookbook sold over 100,000 copies in its first year. After the success of her cookbooks she was approached by Food Network with an offer to host her own cook show, she said yes. Now Ina Garten is worth over $40 million dollars! Ina shows that you don't need culinary training to be great at cooking, just hard work and practice.
